Who would have thought that, having started the season with a podium finish in Qatar, Pol Espargaro would find himself in the situation he is in now? Since then, his performance on the mighty Repsol Honda has been almost disastrous.
“I have suffered a lot since the Qatar Grand Prix. Since then I haven’t done anything to improve my feel, I’ve just been working on the settings on the bike. With the settings you can improve a bit, but when everyone is this fast you need new parts to improve the feel. And I didn’t get anything,” the rider was quoted as saying on Motorsport-Total, referring, for example, to the fact that Honda brought new parts for Takaaki Nakagami after the summer break and… not for him.
The issue of new parts deserves criticism from the Spaniard, who explains the differences in treatment towards himself and Marc Marquez:
– Marc uses a different swingarm, chassis and aero package than I do. He has a very different driving style than mine. But Marc is Marc, he is always fast. Even with the same package, it is difficult to compare it under normal conditions. We have a very different world, so it’s also very difficult to compare my data with his. It’s impossible, I can’t prove anything.
