The power of faith | The Guardian Nigeria News

Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is the substance of the things hoped for; the evidence of things you do not see.” Mark 11:22: “And Jesus answered them, Have faith in God.”

We are commanded to believe in God. Having faith makes us believe in the name of the Son of God, Jesus Christ; and also to obey His commandments. Through the name of Jesus Christ we can have life. “Looking at Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” You must have faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and that he came to save you so that you do not experience eternal damnation.

Faith is a gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit teaches us to remain strong in Christ in the midst of trials and tribulations. With the help of the Holy Spirit, you don’t feel alone; you feel that God is next to you. “Yea, though I pass through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me, thy rod, and thy rod comfort me” (Psalm 23:4).

Although you walk through the valley of shame, pain, disease and sterility, among other things, you are not alone; God is right next to you. God builds you to be spiritually strong and great in Him. The scriptures are designed to build faith in both the old and the young. Our children must be the scriptures from their early years; if they cannot make their own decisions, they can be wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

“But when they believed that Philip preached the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.” Acts 8:12. We must preach the gospel all over the world so that people will believe Jesus Christ and repent of their evil ways. By teaching the word of God, we encourage people to have faith in the words of our Lord Jesus Christ. To avoid corruption and escape it, you must believe and accept Jesus Christ today, as tomorrow may be too late. Many who do not know Jesus Christ go through suffering (including mental manipulations, addictions, illnesses). They cannot call on Jesus Christ to save them, because they have to hear from Him to believe in Him, or know how mighty He is. Hebrews 11:6 says: “But without faith it is impossible to please him; for whoever comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.” If you don’t believe that He can do all things, you can’t have faith in Him. Faith is necessary in Christian warfare. To overcome all physical and spiritual battles in life, holding on to the faith is very important.

Putting away faith on the battlefield will lead to disaster. The devil’s purpose is to make us end up in hell. 1 Timothy 6:12 says, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold of eternal life, to which you also were called, and have made a good confession before many witnesses.”

The gospel is operative in those who have faith. When one receives the word of God as the word of men, there will be no fruitfulness, but believing and accepting the word of God as the truth works wonders. Faith is needed in prayer. “And whatsoever ye ask in prayer, believing ye shall receive.” Matthew 21:22.

“And a woman with an issue of blood of twelve years, who had spent all her living on physicians, and could not be healed of any, came after him and touched the hem of his robe: and immediately her flow of blood ceased. And Jesus said: “Who touched me? When they all denied, Peter and those who were with him said, “Master, the crowd is crowding and pressing upon you, and you say, Who touched me?” And Jesus said: Someone has touched me, for I perceive that virtue has gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and fell before him, and told him before all the people why she had touched him, and how she was immediately healed. And he said unto her, Daughter, rest assured; your faith has made you well; go in peace.” Luke 8:43-48.

Through this story, we can see that to receive God’s recommendation, in the midst of difficult and impossible situations, faith must be exercised. Faith overcomes every difficulty in life.
