Intermediate speed Asitha Fernando has been added to the Sri Lankan roster for the T20 World Cup as a replacement for the injured Binura Fernando.
Binura suffered a left hamstring injury on Tuesday during their seven-wicket loss to Australia in Perth.
The replacement was approved by the six-member technical committee for events of the T20 World Cup, the ICC said in a statement.
“He will travel from Sri Lanka and join the rest of the squad in Australia,” said ICC.
25-year-old Asitha played three T20Is and the last one against India during their triumphant Asia Cup campaign in the UAE.
Sri Lanka, which has two points from two games, will face New Zealand here on Saturday.
