Shahid Afridi responds to Amit Mishra’s ‘this too shall pass’ tweet for Babar Azam | Cricket

Pakistan recorded their first win of the 2022 T20 World Cup on Sunday when the squad defeated the Netherlands by six wickets in Perth. After limiting the Dutch side to a low score of 91/9 in 20 overs, Pakistan chased the goal in 13.5 overs, losing four wickets. Mohammad Rizwan made a much-needed return to scoring with 49 from 39 deliveries, while Shadab Khan was the bowlers’ pick with three wickets; he recorded figures of 3/22 in four overs.

The team’s captain, Babar Azam, remained in poor form, however, as he was sacked for 4 of the five deliveries. Babar was eliminated in the second left of the match; in the last three matches of the World Cup, the Pakistani captain has recorded scores of 0, 4 and 4.

Babar has received significant support from Pakistani fans amid his string of low scores. Interestingly, a few months ago, when India’s former skipper Virat Kohli had scored an equally low number of points in his international career, Babar posted a heartwarming tweet in support of the batter. The Pakistani skipper had written: ‘This too shall pass. Stay strong,” on his official Twitter profile.

On Sunday, following Babar’s other single-digit score in the T20 World Cup, Indian spinner Amit Mishra posted an exactly similar tweet for the Pakistani skipper.

On Pakistan’s Samaa TV, the anchor reacted quite strongly to Amit Mishra’s tweet, as he stated that while Babar showed a big heart, “a player named Amit Mishra makes fun of it.”

Shahid Afridi, who was part of the show, replied: “Ye jo monkey name le rahe hain Amit Mishra, ye bhi India se khela hua hai. Ye spinner tha ki batsman tha? (This name you assume, Amit Mishra, he also played for India. Was he a spinner or a batsman?)”

After being told that he was a spinner, Afridi said, “Koibet nahi. Chalein age. This too will pass. (Don’t worry. Let’s move on).”
