Suryakumar Yadav scored a blistering 51 from just 25 balls as India beat the Netherlands by 56 runs to make it 2 of 2 wins in their World Cup campaign.
The reckless batter was named player of the game and talked about his time in the middle.
“I was just trying to express myself when I went to bat. The situation was very simple, I just had to pick up the pace at that point. I took one ball today (to get started), but the message was loud and clear. We needed to get about 8-10 per over and get a total that our bowlers could easily defend. Very happy with the way it went,” he says.
Speaking about his collaboration with Virat Kohli, he said: “I really enjoy playing with him. Thoughts are very clear when we’re both hitting. If I’m getting few limits before then, our collaboration needs to be stretched and that’s what we do.”
In the match, India scored 179 for 2 after batting first and then limited the Netherlands to 123 for 9. The Men in Blue produced a solid batting display with Rohit Sharma (53), Virat Kohli (62 not out) and Yadav (51 not out ). ), all of which scored sparkling fifties.
For Netherlands, Fred Klaassen (1/33) and Paul van Meekeren (1/32) took one wicket each.
