We shouldn’t be surprised by rising SUV prices, but the Honda Passport just gave us another shock. The passport has already made some moves, causing prices to skyrocket. Now the Honda passport from 2023 is going up in price again.
How much does the 2023 Honda passport cost?

The 2023 Honda Passport price starts at $42,395. This price includes the destination fee of $1,295. According to Car Scoops, the price is up $2,700 over the outgoing model, but it’s not all bad news because four-wheel drive is now standard.
However, adding AWD to SUVs usually costs around $1,500, so $2,700 is a bit extreme. This increase comes after the cheapest Sport trim was discontinued last year, pushing the price up $5,080 to start with a base model.
The passport fits between the smaller Honda CR-V and larger Honda Pilot models. The Pilot offers an advantage by accommodating up to seven passengers. The 2022 Pilot starts at $38,080 before adding AWD and the destination fee, so it may be cheaper than the Passport.
Is the 2023 Passport Worth Buying?

Yes, the 2023 Honda Passport is worth buying. It serves as a spacious SUV with the perfect blend of practicality, comfort and athleticism. Despite being larger, it is agile and easy to carry around town for daily commutes and adventures.
The Passport got a facelift in 2022 and will remain much the same for 2023. It uses a 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The Passport can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.8 seconds, which is excellent for this class.
While the suspension is a little stiff, the body movements are smaller bumps that are fairly well controlled for a comfortable ride. Wind and road noise are also kept outside for a quiet interior.
The brakes are a bit squishy though. Also, it only gets an EPA-estimated 19 mpg in the city and up to 22 mpg on the highway.
When properly equipped, the passport can tow up to 5,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,332 lbs. It can carry medium-sized amperes and larger recreational vehicles.
You can access 41.2 cubic feet behind the back seat and up to 77.9 cubic feet in total, based on Edmund’s measurements. The lifting height is a bit high, but child seats are easy to install.
Does the 2023 passport contain sufficient value?

The 2023 Honda Passport contains tons of value. The standard EX-L trim starts with 20-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, heated seats, wireless phone charger, heated seats, electrically adjustable seats and keyless entry.
Each model comes standard with AWD, Blind Spot Guidance, Reversing Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and Parking Sensors.
You must upgrade to the Elite trim level to access ventilated seats, a hands-free power tailgate, heated steering wheel, 10-speaker premium audio system and connected Honda services.
While the Passport offers plenty of standard features to provide comfort and convenience, we wish it were more affordable. Those who don’t need AWD will have to pay the extra money.
