Story Links CLEVELAND – Sydney Naro (Toronto, Ontario, Can./Hills International Golf Academy) of the Northern Illinois University women’s golf team earned her inaugural Mid-American Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week award after an impressive show at the Charlotte Invitational, the competition agency announced on Wednesday.
After completing the first 36 holes, Naro, along with fellow teammate Jasmine Ly (Windsor, Ontario, Can./Holy Names High School), came in second with a two-over-146 card. She continued her strong game into the final round by firing a four-over 76 to accelerate the Huskies.
In all, Naro was only six-over 222 in the three rounds, taking her fifth place individually. She scored seven birdies and had the best par three average in the field of 73 golfers with 2.75 strokes per hole.
Naro helped the Huskies take fifth place out of a field of 12 teams that entered the event.
NIU will use the winter to prepare for an action-packed spring championship. The team’s next tournament will take place on February 6-7, 2023 at the Mid-American Match Play at Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
