Maroon, Orange Open Baseball’s 2022 Fall World Series

BLACKSBURG – With internal bragging at stake, the Virginia Tech baseball team is celebrating the end of the outdoor exhibition season by opening its annual intrasquad Fall World Series on Wednesday, October 26 at English Field in Atlantic Union Bank Park. The Hokies split their roster into two sides, Maroon and Orange, and will contest Game 1 on Wednesday with the first pitch scheduled for 2:30 PM. Fall World Series action then resumes with Game 2 on Sunday, October 30 at 4:15 PM before concluding with Game 3 on Wednesday, November 2 at 2:30 PM. All fans are encouraged to participate while taking advantage of free admission and free seating. Ballpark concessions and concourse operations will be closed. SCORING FALL WORLD SERIES To win the Fall World Series, Maroon of Orange must win at least two of the following three categories: (a) Game 3 score, (b) series points, and (c) series run differential. Teams earn one run for each inning won on the scoreboard. If an inning is tied, no points are awarded and the value of the points awarded during the next inning is increased by one. The cumulative score is displayed on the English Field video board throughout the series and is tracked in real time as follows: Column Runs – Shows the individual game score Hits column – Shows cumulative series points Fault column – Shows cumulative run difference Which side wins at least two of the three categories displayed on the leaderboard after Game 3 determine the winner.
