Markets at Close-Nifty and Sensex manage to hold on to gains in a volatile trading session

Benchmark indices ended a volatile session on October 27 on a positive note based on positive global signals. From the start of the session, all indices witnessed in effect. Sensex ended the session in the green with an increase of approximately 213 points and closed at 59,755, up ~0.4%. Nifty moved up 80 points to close at 17.737, up 0.5%. About 1,832 stocks have shot up, 1,586 stocks have fallen, and 131 stocks have remained unchanged. 140 stocks hit their 52-week high today. JSW Steel was the biggest gainer in the Nifty 50 index, up 5.7%, followed by Hindalco, up 3.5%. Bajaj Finserve fell 1.8% and was the biggest loser in Nifty, followed by Bajaj Finance, also down 1.8%. More than 75% of Nifty ingredients have progressed today. SJVN, IIFL, Granules, Phoenix Ltd and RVNL were some of the stocks that hit their 52-week high today. While Nykaa, Gland Pharma, Price Pipes, Delhivery and Mphasis were some of the stocks that hit their 52-week low.

Broader indices marginally outperformed the Nifty today.

Nifty Bank rose ~176 points to the end of the day at 41,299. Axis Bank and Kotak Bank were the two biggest winners in the sector today.

Nifty Realty Index was the best performing sector index, ending the session at ~3%. All components of the Index rose today except Sobha, which lost 0.4%.

Nifty Metal Index was the second best performing sector, ending the day at 2.7%. JSW Steel and Jindal Steel were the best performers in the Index.

Nifty PSU Bank Index is up for the fifth day in a row. UCO Bank and Union Bank were the biggest winners in the sector today.

Nifty FMCG Index broke its three-day decline to end the session at 0.5% led by Dabur and Varun Beverages. Nifty Auto Index rose for the third day in a row led by Bharat Forge and Hero Moto.

Nifty IT Index broke its two-day winning streak and was the only sector to close in the red today.
