KSU in Fifth After Darkness suspends day one action in Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Kennesaw State women’s golf team is fifth in the Olde Stone Intercollegiate after being dealt 296 cards in the first round Monday at The Club at Olde Stone.

The Owls completed the first round but were unable to finish round two before the game was interrupted due to darkness. Meva Schmit and Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman will complete round two on Tuesday before joining the Owls in round three.


Schmit and Cameron Neilson lead the 11th-place team in the event.

Neilson shot 1-over 147 on Monday and landed an eagle on the first hole on round two.

Schmit led the Owls through the first round, matching her season-best low round score of 2-under-70. She is 5-over-72 with one hole left in round two.

She also landed an eagle, this one on the 14th hole in round one.

The duo led the team in par-3 scores with an average of 3.00. Neilson leads the team with a score of 4.00 par-4 and 22 par.

SCORING CARD: Lara Jecnik finished the first day 5-over 149, finishing 18th.

She is third in par-5 scoring (4.75 average) and has the fourth most birdies (7) in the tournament.

Bella Kil placed 151 over the two rounds. Kil finished strong with a 1-over-73 in the second round.

Campbell-Nyman’s round two score stands at 4-over 73 with one hole left. Her total tournament score stands at 154.

GOLF CAR NOTES: >> The owls lead the field with two eagles. >> KSU has the second most birdies in the tournament with 27. >> The team is third in par-4 scores (4.14 average).
