The purpose of this test was to assess the performance of the engine technology with 100% SAF compared to Jet A/A1. Ground tests were conducted over several days on an HF120 engine at GE’s Peebles Test Operations using HEFA-SPK*, the most widely available SAF, produced from spent vegetable cooking oil, waste fats and fats. The test results are very favourable, with engine performance equivalent to Jet A fuel during the SAF run.

“As our tests show, the HF120 engine can run on approved SAF today and in the future. Our customers can be confident that the HF120 engine can help them meet their sustainability goals of reducing in-flight CO2 emissions, thanks to the innovative design features of the HF120,” said Melvyn Heard, president of GE Honda.
