Honda India records 29% growth in domestic sales in September 2022

Honda City eHEVHonda Cars Indian Ltf. recorded domestic monthly sales of 8,714 units in September 2022, registering 29% sales growth over the same period last year. However, export numbers declined slightly with 2,333 units exported in September 2022, compared to 2,964 units in September 2021. Yuichi Murata, Director of Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd, commented on the sales performance, pointing out how festive demand has been strong and continues to show good momentum.

“On the supply side, we were able to increase our factory output compared to last month, which is also positive for the festive sale in terms of better availability of Honda cars during the Navratra, Dussehra and Diwali period,” said Yuichi Murata .

“Our volume models, Honda City and Amaze, continue to nurture customer confidence and drive strong sales. City e:HEV gives us an additional opportunity to serve our customers with advanced electric mobility solutions and we get exceptional user feedback from them,” he added.

Speaking of which, the Honda City e:HEV is the only fully hybrid compact sedan available on the market. It is available as a single variant model and the City hybrid is available for purchase from Rs 19.49 lakh.

Like the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the Honda City e:HEV also equips the 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle engine in combination with two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery with self-charging capability. This powertrain has a claimed fuel consumption of 26.5 km/l.

In addition to the hybrid power unit, Honda also offers a number of first active safety features in the segment with the City e:HEV. This includes adaptive cruise control, lane assistant and autonomous braking. All these futures are bundled in the Honda Sensing Suite.

The interior has remained the same as other fifth-generation Honda City, but there is a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that produces Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, there is also mood lighting, an electric sunroof and an updated Honda Connect with Amazon Echo, Google Assistant and smartwatch integration.
