Gillen wins All-Conference Honors at A-10 Championships

Story Links MECHANICSVILLE, Va. — Saint Louis freshman Toby Gillen took All-Conference honors at today’s Atlantic 10 Conference Cross Country Championships after finishing 10th overall. The Billikens men’s team finished fifth overall, while the women finished in 12th place. Gillen, who won multiple A-10 gold medals during the indoor and outdoor track seasons last year, finished the five-mile race in 24:21.6. Firaol Ahmed came in next for SLU with a 22nd place finish of 24:54.2. In the men’s race, Harrison Martinenko (27th, 25:02.4), Matt de Haas (34th, 25:11.1) and Patrick Donovan (63rd, 25:44.0) also scored. In the women’s race, Carly Sear led the Bills with a 5K time of 18:15,4, good for 34th place. Nicole Marco was next with a 49th place of 18:30.7. Jordan Kantola (77th, 19:00.8), Ashleigh Niklaus (83rd, 19:05.7) and Lyndi Roelofse (91st, 19:10.5) completed the score for the Billikens. Next up for the squads is the NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday, November 11 in Columbia, Mo.
